Charcoal-Stripped Fetal Bovine Serum

Dialyzed fetal bovine serum removes some small molecules, such as glucose, salts and non-protein binding molecules, from the serum through dialysis. Dialysis treatment removes molecules with molecular weights less than 10,000 Da, and cannot remove hormones during the process, but may reduce the growth capacity of some cell types. The serum was treated at 4°C, requiring strict control of pH, osmotic pressure, and glucose concentration.
